Job Description SummaryThe Manufacturing Manager is responsible for strategic oversight and leadership direction within the Manufacturing function at the Tempe Manufacturing plant. The position establishes manufacturing goals, executes production plans to meet demand, develops continuous improvement plans, and fosters a culture with Lean concepts/tools as its foundation to drive the overall success of the organization. The Manufacturing Manager provides a work environment that promotes open communication and values of quality, integrity, and service. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
Ensures adequacy of staffing, monthly performance, cost variances and reports designed to measure operational performance.
Establish business processes for production planning and monitoring of critical production metrics
Responsible for working in collaboration with Supply Chain to achieve inventory objectives and accomplishment of service level goals
Provide leadership and direction to the Tempe manufacturing organization including Production Supervisors and Production Planner. Establish and monitor quarterly and annual objectives for direct reports. Provide ongoing feedback regarding performance against objectives
Dotted line responsibility for Buyer/Planner. The Manufacturing Manager will partner with the Materials Manager to establish and implement business processes to align on material availability for production
Ensurethe selection, development, and retention of high caliber talent. Implement succession-planning and cross training activities for all areas of responsibility
Foster the establishment of a constructive functional work environment. Works seamlessly with R&D, RA, Finance, Quality, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and other functional areas
Ensurescompliance of facilities to all appropriate Quality, Safety, Environmental and Financial Regulations
Maintain policies that promote compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies. Ensure proper training of employees and conformance to all Plant and Business Unit SOPs, DOPs, QSR Guidelines, ISO standards and FDA requirements.
Through the principles of “Lean Thinking” and “Six Sigma” foster an environment of continuous improvement in the areas of cost, quality, service, and best manufacturing practices

Required Qualifications:
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization (corporate, division and plant). Excellent verbal and written communications.
Strong working knowledge in Manufacturing and Plant Financials. Ability to effectively manage technical processes
General understanding of GMP, ISO, OSHA, and EPA requirements
Ability to build high performing teams and provide coaching and mentoring for staff and key personnel
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proven track record of implementing change, driving cost improvements, and increasing efficiencies
Demonstrated ability in leading cross functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Medical device manufacturing experience a plus.
Prior experience in a Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing environment
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years direct experience in manufacturing with hands-on experience in multiple disciplines
2-3 years of prior leadership experience
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, see and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools, controls and office equipment. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be in an open cubicle environment. Candidate must be able to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
