Reporting to the President, Medication Management Solutions, and as a member of the Medication Management Solutions (MMS) Worldwide Leadership Team, the VP/GM Dispensing Solutions provides general management oversight to the approximately $1.4B Dispensing Solutions business including the BD Pyxis™, BD Pyxis Logistics™, BD IV Prep™ and BD Supply™ product platforms.

Incumbent is accountable for creating communicating the vision, strategy and on-time commercialization and ramp-up of new business opportunities in Dispensing. Incumbent manages the Dispensing Solutions financial performance on a global basis and is additionally responsible for portfolio planning, technology and product development, talent management, P&L management, and matrix cross functional leadership of R&D, Quality, and Sales.

This role will work closely with the Regional Leaders and their marketing teams to ensure cohesive strategy development and implementation. He/she will work in partnership with the Dispensing organization and MMS Solutions to build value-added solution offerings to the MMS portfolio, as well as work to build strong relationships with customers, strategic partners, and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).


Responsible for the strategic and financial performance of the platform areas. Leads annual planning process to define and communicate global strategic, oversees product development and operational direction for the product/platform areas, and influences multifunctional resources to accomplish business objectives.

Develops annual and multi-generational product roadmaps, strategic plan and release planning in conjunction and consultation with R&D and operations management team to create robust new product pipeline that meets or exceeds customer expectations. This includes market strategy of existing products into targeted markets, as well as new products and new markets. Works with regional market groups on launch planning, sales tools, public policy, advertising and trade shows; and identifying new product innovations, optimizing product portfolio, launching new products and line extensions, and managing product lifecycles, forecasting, pricing, etc.

Develops and executes competitive strategies based on thorough competitive intelligence and market analysis. Drives understanding of Global customer knowledge and needs around the product/platform area.

Accountable for achievement of financial goals and expense budgets. Directly accountable for WW performance, and responsible for supporting Regions in achievement of their financial goals.

Effectively partners and collaborates with regional business leaders, R&D, Medical Affairs, Quality, Business Development & Strategic Planning and other functions to ensure development and execution of marketing and product strategy.

Drives business growth through innovation and quality, ensuring compliance with BDX systems. e.g., S&OP, Global Product Development system, Quality/Regulatory, life cycle management Sustaining Engineering (Quality Aggressor) of products. Uses BD Way of Marketing methodology to develop and implement these plans. Ensures all internal resources understand that there is a patient at the end of each product to ensure product safety, compliance, and reliability are at the core of the products we develop and deliver.

Promotes and utilizes analytical methods to establish/evaluate all marketing programs, including analysis and recommendations of new strategic opportunities. Maintains, interprets and applies key market data including regional category shares and competitive analysis.

Identifies and maintains strong relationship with key opinion leaders, customers, professional associations, and advisory boards. Establishes/builds relationships with key internal and external stakeholders as necessary to support business objectives.

Responsible for Talent Management within direct reporting lines. Ensures required human resource capabilities are in place to successfully execute strategies.

Responsible for routine communication forums and channels to the organization regarding the Dispensing Solutions business, progress towards objectives, and global/regional sales and financial performance.



BA / BS. Degree Required; Advanced Degree (e.g., MBA) highly preferred 


A minimum of 10 years progressive marketing or general management leadership experience in the medical device or healthcare areas, with a minimum of 8 years demonstrated effective P&L and/or budget management. Proven track record in commercialization excellence and leadership.


Established foundation of leadership credibility based on integrity and a track record of achievement in delivering large and/or multiple projects and influencing business outcomes.

Solid business acumen and knowledge of medical device market environment. Experience in commercialization of software or business solutions highly preferred.

Demonstrated ability to conceive, develop and implement commercial strategies, convert these into tactical marketing plans and deliver results.

Strong leadership skills with an ability to set a vision, lead change and to mentor others. Cultivates a team where associates speak up when important information or questions must be raised and takes action when issues must be addressed.

Creative out of the box thinker who is intellectually curious and thrives on complexity.

Sound decision-making capabilities and the ability to take decision in absence of consensus when necessary.

Ability to develop strong relationships with key opinion leaders, customers, and potential or existing business partners.

Strong leadership presence with ability to utilize organizational channels, experience and influencing skills to persuade others of the course of action, facilitate successful project implementation and effective implementation.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills for a wide variety of audiences, including senior management.

Ability to work across all global regions at both an executive and tactical sales/marketing level.

Proven track record of developing others. Provides situational coaching and feedback. Takes action to assure organizational capabilities are in place to achieve strategy and build succession candidates.
