As a Staff Systems Engineer, you will use your broad technical expertise, leadership skills, and knowledge to represent the R&D organization as the technical leader for product development. You will translate the voice of customer and partner needs into system and product requirements, identify potential hazards and assess requirements to ensure product compliance to safety and regulatory standards. This role involves utilizing technical knowledge and engineering tools and methodologies to define and connect pieces across different functional elements (Software, Mechanical, Electrical, etc). You will ensure the product requirements are defined/maintained and the lower-level functional design teams deliver to those requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Drive product design architecture definition and proactively identify technical risks and mitigation pathways.
Apply and assert DFSS best practices.
Define and drive system and subsystem level requirements and architectural decisions
Participate in Design and Technical Reviews to ensure sound decision making is made across the program
Lead system/product-level feasibility activities and risks assessments
Serve as a continued customer advocate and translate voice of customer and stakeholder needs into system and product requirements.
Coordinate of system-level product development and integration
Serve as a key resource to examine system verification issues and bring to resolution
Identify potential hazards and associated control measures
Coordinate and handle complex technical development activities involving cross-functional teams working within and external to the BD organization
Contribute to best-in-class systems engineering functional excellence, including data-driven approach with focus on superior user experience and serve as a driver for the application of a systems-oriented focus
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering required. Graduate degree is preferred.
At least 8 years of related work experience or a combination of work experience and advanced degrees required. Experience with medical device development is a plus.
Strong technical background with experience in Systems Engineering including Requirements Management, Hazards Analysis, System Architectural Development, Functional Modeling, Systems Integration, Statistical Test Design, Verification and Validation, Reliability Engineering, DFSS and Failure Modes Effects Analysis .
Experience in experimental and engineering investigation techniques and statistical analysis
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to lead and mentor multi-discipline engineering teams
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to influence and break down silos within an organization as well across organizations
Ability to communicate complex business / technical challenges in a clear and concise manner
Familiarity with regulations and compliance testing is desired.
Knowledge and expertise in product hardware and software life cycle management
