BD helps customers enhance outcomes, lower costs, increase efficiencies, improve safety and expand access to health care. bd.com SHIFT: D General Function/Purpose: To assist the teams in the production of high quality and low cost molded components Direction of Others May be required to give direction to co-workers Required Knowledge, Experience, Skills & Abilities: + Required: High school Diploma or GED (minimum) + Ability to learn basic computer skills + Ability to read, write, and speak English + Desired: Previous molding and/or inspection experience Skills + Required: Ability to operate a Fork Lift, Electric Pallet Jack and Electric Stacker Machine Attendant KSAs(Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) + Assisting with pull/sets of molds + Able to start and stop a press correctly and without damage or injury. + How to start and stop all the auxiliary equipment (water temp controllers, mold temp controllers, grinders, dryers, conveyor belts, box changers, and etc...) + Will be able to clean a machine to BD standards. + Will be able to perform the daily cleaning functions accurately in areas and on equipment they are responsible for according to the MD700212. + Able to clean/change the Conair resin delivery system filters & press filters + Able to assist with and support proper color changes. + Operation of a water temp & mold temp controller and what it does. + How to purge a press. + Understanding how the Conair systems works and report issues to the processor. + Know how to change and clean the line and surge bin filters + Will be able to check the material level in grinders and know the frequency of this. + Know how to handle and store purgings + Monitor, mix, or move/handle/store materials and molded components. + Answering Alarms + Deep press cleaning + Component Material Handling Tote handling, Stacking pallets, & Staging bubbles + Recycling components + Removing runner balls + Production & Waste reporting + Creating pallet cards Safety KSAs + Able to perform accurate LOTO procedures + Able to un-jam a plugged grinder properly while following correct LOTO procedures + Proper disposal of waste-water. + Proper clean up and disposal of waste oil. + Location of machine safeties. + Know and understand machine safeties, pinch points, and danger areas. + Will be trained on fall protection safety. + Know and understand how to avoid potential burns from molten plastic and heat sources + Know the proper PPE to use and when it should be used + Know the location of the MSDS and their use + Demonstrate the safe method for clearing plugged hoppers and runner jams + Know how to operate overhead cranes safely + Know what to do to address large and small oil leaks properly Inspection KSAs + Review all paperwork for your shift. + Know and understand the entire ac's for the molding area. + Understand and own the proper line clearance they will verify that all of the old material has been removed from the area prior to resuming production. + Will be able to make a pallet card. + Will be able to make WIP tickets + Will be able to identify what materials each component is made from. + Will be able to properly stack tubs on a pallet. + Know where to store and how to handle all resins, concentrates, components, and materials + Know how to changeover batches and know where to find material/color batch numbers + Know how to perform the proper visual inspection & the procedure to follow when a defect is found + Check for proper identification materials, components, and batch numbers. Production Reporting KSAs + Will know where the finished goods are stored. + Know the contents and location of the surge bins and silos + Know how to correctly use and reset the cycle counters at the presses + Know how to find, determine, setup and use approximate part weight and the scales for bulk handled components + Weigh bubbles on floor scales to track/record production. Working Conditions: + Indoor heated and cooled environment. + Degree of exposure to dust, dirt, heat, fumes, noise, vibration, grease, oil, and chemicals. Earplugs must be worn. + Some amount of physical exertion required: walking, crawling, pulling, kneeling, climbing, and possibly lifting up to 30 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally.
